Palestine’s participation in the annual conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in its "22nd Annual General Meeting"
The Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation, represented by its General Manager / Mr. Loay Hawash, participated in the annual conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in its 22nd Annual General Meeting, held in Boston - United States of America.
The annual conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) is an important occasion for deposit insurance institutions worldwide, to learn about the latest developments and practices related to deposit insurance, exchange experiences, and explore opportunities for future cooperation. The conference brought together experts and representatives of deposit insurance institutions from various countries of the world.
The participation of Palestine Deposit Insurance Corporation in this conference is a part of its ongoing strategy to enhance the institution’s performance and expertise in deposit insurance systems, and to to enhance banking awareness and raise depositors’ confidence in the Palestinian banking system. The Corporation reaffirms its strong commitment to protecting and compensating depositors and enhancing financial stability in Palestine.
During the conference, the experiences of some countries and the reflection of the collapse of some banks in the United States of America and other countries were reviewed, in addition to the lessons learned from that and a study of depositors’ reactions to the issue during and after the bank failure. This highlights the role of deposit insurance institutions in the financial safety net that works to Increase the financial and banking stability in every country.
On the sidelines of the conference, a meeting of the regional committee responsible for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region was held, where Mr. Loay Hawash participated in this meeting as the vice-chairman of this committee; Its main tasks include studying the situation in the region, important developments, and enhancing the concept of deposit insurance and promoting cooperation among institutions in the region.
Mr. Loay Hawash expressed his gratitude and appreciation for participating in the Annual Conference of the International Association of Deposit Insurers, which works to enhance the corporation's role and achieve one of its main objectives of building an international network with deposit insurance institutions worldwide to strengthen relationships and exchange experiences. Hawash added that the corporation looks forward to applying the knowledge and experiences gained from this conference to strength the capabilities of the Palestinian Deposit Insurance Corporation and achieve its mission in contributing to providing a safe and sustainable banking environment for depositors in Palestine.
